Hofseth Biocare applies for listing on the Oslo Stock Exchange
Hofseth Biocare AS was established in September 2009, but has roots back to 2000 from the work done by Green Earth Industries. During the second quarter of 2011 HBC started production of high-grade marine oils, proteins and calcium in Midsund in More and Romsdal. Applying a proprietary enzymatic hydrolysis technology on by-products from salmon, HBC manages to obtain pure fractions of oil, protein and calcium for use in dietary supplements, in medical and food products.
The hydrolysis technology further preserves the quality of raw materials, so products that previously could only be used for animal feed now are made suitable for human consumption. In addition to adding significant value to the raw material, the process also contributes to a significantly more efficient use of marine resources.
The project has reached an investment close to 200 ml. NOK in the modern production facility in Midsund, where production will be based on raw materials from local seafood processing plants. Significant raw material along the Norwegian coast, however, opens for the establishment of additional production capacity in the future.
“We see significant potential in this industry, and we have clear ambitions for growth in the years to come. A listing on the Oslo Stock Exchange gives us improved access to capital to finance this growth, says CEO Sjur Jenssen in Hofseth Biocare.
